The eligibility criteria for the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam are set by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the conducting body of NEET. As of my last update, here are the general eligibility criteria:
- Nationality:
- Indian Nationals
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
- Foreign Nationals
- Age Limit:
- The minimum age limit for appearing in NEET is 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission.
- There is no upper age limit for NEET.
- Qualifying Examination:
- Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- The qualifying examination must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks:
- General category candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination.
- Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) candidates must have scored at least 40% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination.
- For candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs, the minimum qualifying marks are the same as for general category candidates.
- Attempts:
- Candidates can attempt NEET a maximum of three times until the upper age limit as specified by the authorities.
- State Eligibility and Domicile Criteria:
- Some states and universities may have additional eligibility criteria regarding domicile, residency, and eligibility for seats under state quota.
- Other Requirements:
- Candidates must comply with any other eligibility criteria specified by the respective examination authorities.
